About Troop 428:

Troop 428 was first chartered on April 28, 1999 and is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council of St. Michael's Church of Poplar Springs in Mount Airy, Maryland. We have about 30 scouts, ranging in age from 11-18 from Carroll, Frederick, Montgomery and Howard Counties.

The Boy Scouts of America and Troop 428 provides a program for boys that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, develops personal fitness and many other life skills. The Troop enjoys a wide range of activities that include:

• rafting
• overnight canoe trips
• camping
• community service projects
• bike trips
• back packing excursions
• climbing
• skiing
• fishing
• week long summer camps
• plus other fun activities.

The scouts organize and plan most all of these activities, with the participation, involvement and supervision of trained adult leaders.
